All participants are invited on Monday September 10th at 19:30 at the welcome reception to be held at the terrace of Hotel Villa Diodoro, in the very historical center of Taormina.
On Wednesday September 12th at 20.30 a social dinner will be offered to all participants at the Hotel Caparena, in a lush scenario filled by the scent of a subtropical garden of palm trees, parlor palms, acacia and hibiscus flowers. A shuttle service from Hotel Villa Diodoro to Hotel Caparena will be provided.
Tour to Taormina center
Tauromenium was founded by Andromacus at the behest of Dionysius the Tyrant of Syracuse in 392 BC on Monte Tauro. The first Punic War saw Taormina falling to the Romans in 212 BC and the town became a favorite holiday spot for Patricians and Senators, thus starting Taormina's long history as a tourist resort.Thanks to its altitude, Taormina offers visitors a breathtaking view. From its Ancient Theatre, you can admire the bay of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, while on the other side you can gaze out over the coastline toward Messina and view the proximity of the Calabrian coast. At the foot of Taormina, the famous bays of Mazzarò and Isola Bella with their crystalline waters. Corso Umberto is the main, pedestrian street at the heart of the town. Besides the Ancient Theatre, many are the monuments of Taormina such as the main Cathedral, the “Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano”, “Palazzo Corvaja”, the small Odeon theatre, the “Naumachie” and the lovely Public Gardens named “Parco Duchi di Cesarò”.

Excursion to volcano Etna
The Etna, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site for being one of the "most emblematic and active in the world", is also the highest volcano in Europe with its 3,340 meters above sea level. The "Funivia dell’Etna" (Cableway of Etna, http://funiviaetna.com/en/) makes it possible to reach, by cablecar and special off-road busses, the authorized upper crater zones of Etna. The excursion starts at 1.923 m and in a few minutes you reach 2.500 m. Here you find special off-road busses that take you to the altitude authorized by the competent authorities. At this point you can enjoy an incomparable panorama extending out over the sea and also admire the impressive Central and South-Eastern Craters and the ancient and recent lavaflows which characterize the surrounding area. The excursion continues with the Etna guides, who accompany you as close as local safety regulations allows to the areas where the vitality of the volcano is revealed.
